Ride Description:

Napanee is one of the oldest municipalities in Ontario, settled by United Empire Loyalists in 1785.   It is a town of close to 16,000 inhabitants, and is situated about halfway between Toronto and Ottawa. South of Napanee the terrain is rolling and bordered by the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario. To the north is typical Canadian Shield country, wooded and rocky with lots of lakes. Napanee is also the hometown of Avril Lavigne.

Accommodation Reservations:

Accommodation will be at the Fox Motor Inn, 207 Dundas St. West, Napanee, Ont., K7R 2B3, Tel. 613-354-3955, www.foxmotorinn.com. Reservations should be made for arrival on Sept. 17 and departure on Sept. 23 (6 nights).

The cost for a room with 2 beds is $129.- and for 1 bed $119.- (single occupancy) plus applicable taxes. This is a special group rate, so when booking mention you are with the  CCCTS. Minimum 2 days notification of cancellation required. The rooms have been blocked until May 15. All rooms have fridges and microwave. There are bbq's on the grounds. Breakfast is not included, but there is a diner just across the road. Bikes will be stored in the garage.

Riding Conditions:

There will be a variety of rides scheduled for each day, mostly on quiet paved roads. There will be shorter and longer options for each day. We will take the ferry to Amherst Island, go to Bath, possibly visit a winery, the oldest Methodist church (1792) in Ontario, a cheese factory and the small town of Tamworth, amongst other.   Organisers will do our best to check out the routes in advance, including pre-driving some of them.

It is expected that we will ride in small groups, each with its own leader.

There are no bike rentals in Napanee.

For participants coming from out of town, bikes can be rented in either Ottawa or Toronto. Participants flying into Toronto (230 km from Napanee) would need to rent a car. For those flying into Ottawa (also 230 km from Napanee), the organisers will do their best to arrange a ride for them.

Fee Includes:

The $25.- fee will cover the organizational costs.

Fee Does Not Include:

Registration and Participant Selection:

A registration lottery will be on the CCCTS website between April 29 and May 3 as shown above. A computerized lottery system and wait list will be utilized if the ride is oversubscribed. A $25.- is required at the time of registration. The selection process will consider the following criteria:

.  fitness and riding ability and experience required for the H&S

.  a history of demonstrating safe riding practices

   .  acceptable social behaviour

The leader may interview riders or others who know them to verify their suitability for the tour. The leader will make the final decision on whether a registrant is accepted for the tour.

The leader will notify registrants of their selection status. If the ride is not filled to capacity (max. 26 cyclists) registration will continue until the registration closing date  of August 27. Payments are considered non-refundable in the event of cancellation, unless you choose to remain on the wait list until after the H&S start date.

As of early February 2023 the CCCTS board requires all participants to be fully vaccinated for COVID. Proof of vaccination may be requested by the ride leader. All ride participants should bring three COVID test kids with them and take responsibility for self testing if they feel ill. Participants are asked to refer to the documents: CCCTS Communicable Illnesses Plan 2023, posted on the website, for specific information related to health safety while touring.
