About the Cross Canada Cycle Tour Society

What we’re about . . . . .

We are a non-profit organization for active adults of all ages. Our members are mainly retired people and others who enjoy recreational cycling. You are welcome to join like-minded people with similar interests, and see BC, other provinces, the USA, and countries abroad. Tours are researched, organized, and led by experienced and committed volunteers which allows us to provide tour opportunities at cost. A wide variety of touring modes are organized including camping with support vehicle, self-contained, hostel or motel groups. Rides are offered to meet the needs of both skilled and novice cyclists. Weekly day rides in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Ottawa and elsewhere – contacts listed in the Monthly Newsbrief – Get to know an area with popular “Hub & Spoke” events. Annual picnics, banquets, and other get-togethers add to our cycling experience.

A little history and philosophy . . . . .

The CCCTS was formed in 1982. In 1983, thirty-five members cycled from Victoria to St John’s. Since the first expedition the cross-Canada tour was cycled in 1986, 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000, and 2004. As well as the highways and byways of BC, the CCCTS has cycled tours in the Yukon, Alberta , Ontario, Québec, and Atlantic Canada; across the USA north-south and east-west; other areas of the USA including Arizona, Washington and Hawaii; countries including Australia, New Zealand, China, the UK, Ireland, India, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Denmark, Holland, Belgium; South Africa, Mexico, Cuba, Croatia, Chile and Argentina. The aim of our club is to give members a chance to enjoy themselves, see the country and to appreciate the company of others who want to lead healthy and active lives. Although most of our members live in BC, the membership extends across Canada with a significant presence in Ottawa and a growing number in the USA, and other countries.
