Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 20!
On that day, 43 riders from the Lower Mainland, with 12 choosing the shorter route and 31 opting for medium or longer distances, will be arriving on the 8:00–9:35 am ferry from Vancouver.
They’re looking forward to joining our CCCTS group and enjoying a ride in the Victoria area. Rolf has reserved the Beaver Lake picnic area from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, where we will host them with a few treats. Riders will bring their own lunches, and we’ll be providing baked goodies along with bottled or carbonated water. Maureen, Sharlane, and I have lined up some enthusiastic bakers to help with the desserts.
Six local ride leaders will meet the ferry and guide the visiting riders from the terminal to Centennial Park, where we expect them to begin arriving (via Wallace Drive) around 11:00 am. That will give us time to say hello, use the facilities, and get organized for the final stretch to the picnic area.
As usual, our local riders often gather for 10:30 am coffee at the Marigold Café, which is less than 15 minutes from Centennial Park. This would be a perfect meeting spot before heading over to welcome our visitors. From the park, we’ll ride together into Beaver Lake using Wallace, Interurban, and Quayle Roads, a scenic and familiar route. The picnic spot is less than an hour’s ride from Centennial Park, leaving plenty of time to enjoy desserts and visit with the Lower Mainland group before heading home.
The GPS route will be sent out with the ride notice a few days beforehand.
Looking forward to a great day!
