Ride Description:

Five days of riding in the beautiful Comox Valley and surrounding islands including a challenging  18 km ride up Mt. Washington

Early Bird registration closes March 30. (See fees increase note below)

There is no limit on the number of participants, though the organizing committee reserves the right to limit the number of riders if numbers become too large. 

Puntledge River Campground, 4624 Condensory Rd. is the “Hub” where all rides will begin and end except for the smaller island rides.  Call  250-334-3773. 

Accommodation Reservations:

Camping at Puntledge River Campground, 4624 Condensory Rd. Call  250-334-3773.  Because there are a few RV sites, those wishing one should book early.  Those with tents can book later.

Recommended motel:

The Comox Valley Inn and Suites 1190 Cliffe Ave 250-334-4476.  A room with 1 queen bed $85.00 plus tax/night, 2 queen beds is $95.00 plus tax/night, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, pool.  Studios with 2 rooms and 2 baths are available. There are 18 rooms reserved. Mention CCCTS. Reserve by June 11, after that date the rooms will no longer be reserved for Hub and Spoke. The Hen and Hog Café is attached to the motel and has great recommendations.

Alternate Choices in Courtenay (rates as of Nov. 2017):

Fee Includes:

Hall rental, Wild Salmon dinner on Monday, stationary supplies and other articles for registration, goodies at registration, GPS map descriptions for all rides. Any surplus funds will be deposited into the local social expense fund.

Fee Does Not Include:

Thursday barbecue at campground (a fee for this will be collected on Monday), any other meals, drinks, accommodation, transportation.

Itinerary:

Mon. June 18, 11:00 – 3:00:
Registration and signup for rides at the Puntledge River Campground. Meet & greet.                    
2:00 –brief meeting to clarify rides and events.  Sign up for rides, ranging from challenging to leisurely in the Valley and to Denman, Hornby  and Quadra

1:30 – 3:30 -Discover our Town Rides every 30 minutes including stops at bicycle shops. 

2:00 “For Serious Hill Climbers”    18 km ride up Mount Washington                                          

6:30 –Sunnydale Golf Clubhouse – Wild Salmon BBQ dinner.

Tues. June 19 – Thur. June 21:
Your choice of 7 rides each day ranging from 40 km to 100 km. Most rides begin at 9:30 AM.  
Ride with GPS route map links for all rides will be emailed to each registrant before the Hub & Spoke start date.

Thur. evening, 5:30 – dinner and music around the campfire.  You are encouraged to bring your instruments for a performance and/or sing-a-long.  There will be a small charge for the food which will be payable at time of registration.   

Friday, June 22:
9:30 – choice of  a  short ride or a kayak/paddleboarding venture in the Courtenay River estuary.  This is a private, independent activity, non-sanctioned by the CCCTS but supervised by a trained, professional member of our club.

Registration and Participant Selection:

Post March 30 (Early Bird Registration cutoff date) fees increase note: 

$15.00 ($20 after March 30, 2018) to participate in the Hub and Spoke.  GPS maps included.

$20.00 for the Monday evening wild salmon barbecue.

$20.00 for an additional Monday evening wild salmon barbecue for your guest.  Please feel free to bring any non-member spouse / partner / significant other as your guest.
