In 2019, the National Capital Region Chapter of the CCCTS is planning a six-day H&S in southern Ontario. The hub will be the city of Guelph, located at the confluence of the Speed and Eramosa rivers. The city is known as “The Royal City”, home to the Basilica of Our Lady and the University of Guelph, and is approximately 100 km west of Toronto.
This H&S is rated as intermediate as the choice of rides is mixed, on rolling terrain, east, west, north and south of the city.
Accommodation will be at the Day’s Inn, 785 Gordon Street, Guelph. To make a reservation call 1-519-822-9112
The cost per room is $98.99 per night, single or double occupancy, plus applicable taxes. A continental breakfast is included.
This is a special group rate, so mention you are with the CCCTS.
The rooms have been blocked until April 26th; the cancellation policy is 24 hours. Participants are requested to find their own room-mates, although trip leaders may be able to assist
Transportation:
Participants will be expected to provide their own transportation to Guelph, although we will endeavour to arrange car pooling for those traveling from Ottawa.
The distance from Ottawa is about 490 km (` 6 hour drive) via Highway 7 and the 401.
The closest airports are:
– Kitchener, Ont (about 18 km from Guelph) – Region of Waterloo Int. Airport – Hamilton, Ont (about 68 km from Guelph)
– Toronto, Ont (about 72 km from Guelph)
Routes will be on segregated bike paths where possible or low density paved roads, suitable for standard road bikes. The topography around Guelph is rolling.
A range of rides of varying levels of difficulty will be available for each day.
The $15 fee will cover the organisational costs as well as provisions of route maps and cue sheets.
Fee does not include the cost of meals, happy hour supplies or individual expenses of participants.
A short city ride from the Day’s Inn motel, 785 Gordon Street, Guelph is planned on Sunday, May 26th, starting at either 3 or 3:30 p.m.
A range of rides of varying levels of difficulty on rolling terrain, east, west, north and south of Guelph will be available Monday, May 27 thru Friday, May 31.
Saturday, June 1 is departure day. No rides are planned.
Registration will follow the CCCTS lottery system and will take place on the CCCTS website at the date and time noted above.
The lottery signup will run for 3 days, after which after which registrants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis for any remaining slots. A wait list will be generated once the ride is full. Maximum riders is 40.
Registration fees are non refundable, IF:
