The Cross Canada Cycle Tour Society        July  2020,  Volume 37, Issue #6

This Month we have a report from Legacy Fund director Janet Whitehead

What is the Legacy Fund program?

Over the years, through casino revenues and membership dues, the club accumulated funds over and above the operating budget requirements. In 2009 the CCCTS executive agreed to disperse reserve funds to subsidize workshops and courses and fund cycling advocacy issues providing the reserve had a balance of no less than $20,000. From 2010 to 2017, the club donated funds to the BC Cycling Coalition and HUB organizations who advocate for cycling safety a modest contribution of $2,400 over the years. The funds continued to grow.

CCCTS reserve funds received a significant boost from the estate of Audrey Hayes, a South Delta cyclist who enjoyed CCCTS activities over the years. With the initial disbursement of $50,000, the executive believed it was prudent to develop a program to ensure the funds were spent on initiatives with lasting value to members and the cycling community at large. The Legacy Program was launched in 2018.

Legacy Fund highlights 2018-2020

  • $22,760 to other cycling related organizations for advocacy and support those in need.

Legacy Funds – Where do we go from here?

CCCTS will continue to support the chapters and cycling related organizations so long as funds are available. The executive will be reviewing the current program in the coming months.

  • Should we develop a strategy to ensure the Legacy Fund program is long term program?

  • Are there other initiatives we could fund to enhance cycling for our members and community at large?

Guerciotti road bike

I’m finally, after 39 years, selling my classic Guerciotti road bike.  I want to get a newer bike, although I ride this one daily, and my wife says, you have three, sell one.  so the Guerciotti gets the short straw.  Asking for a reasonable price.  Photos enclosed.

A Too Small Jersey for Trade.

l’ll offer up a brand new, never been worn CCCTS cycling jersey in size XL. Be happy to trade for a Large in the club sizing if anyone has a need for something a bit bigger. After all the issues with the jersey sizing, ordering an XL wasn’t the smartest move that I’ve made lately 🙂

Peter Donkers.

Just for Laughs.
