2018 Trois Rivieres Hub and Spoke

On May 27 44 CCCTS club members gathered at the Comfort Inn in Trois Rivieres. We were there to start a six day Hub and spoke trip. This trip was organized by Nel Ahmed with assistance from Geoff Kennedy and Ed Weber.

Most of the participants were from the Ottawa area but there were 6 of us from B.C.

The Sunday ride was a short one to get us acquainted with the city of Trois Rivieres.

There were many bike paths in the city and we were able to use a lot of them.

Our daily rides would start about 0900. There were at least two rides and sometimes three rides organized for each day. Each ride had a fast group and a slower group. We cycled on quiet roads in rural Quebec. Some of our rides went along the St Lawrence although for the most part you are not able to be right beside the river. We passed many small towns. One thing I noticed was the difference in the style of the houses compared to the west coast.

The cycling infrastructure in Quebec is well set up. There are many bike routes and bike paths. There are also many bike maps available from the Tourist Information centers.

This was my second hub and spoke trip with the Ottawa chapter of the CCCTS. They are a friendly and welcoming group. I enjoy the opportunity to explore a small section of a province that I know nothing about.

I rented a new full carbon bike from Rent-a-bike in Ottawa. Their rates are very reasonable and I would highly recommend them.

I would like to thank Nel, Geoff and Ed for a great hub and spoke. If anyone is thinking of doing a hub and spoke with this wonderful group I would say “go for it”.

Thank you to all the wonderful participants.

Hope to see you again next year.
