  • Registration:  Will start on Oct 6, 2012 at 5:00 PM PST.  A $2 non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of signup which must be done online at http://tinyurl.com/m9dw6g.  Within 48 hours, the tour leader will contact you.  After the leader has determined if you fit the criteria for the tour, you will be notified to make your deposit of $500 within 72 hours. Second payment of $1100.00 due November 26. Any cancellation will incur costs made or committed on your behalf.   
  • Registration criteria:  Applicants will be selected on the basis of date and time of receipt of registration.   Since rooming arrangements are assumed to be double occupancy (couples or same sex roommates) your status may change, if a suitable roommate has not applied.  Once the tour is full, applicants may join the wait list at no charge. In addition, since this is an intermediate tour, the leader may refuse applicants who do not meet the required fitness and health level for this tour.

    Description:  This is a ‘credit card’ tour in the Big Island of Hawaii with motel or B&B accommodation and restaurant dinners.  Lunch/ breakfast will be prepared in rotation.
    Riding days will be 40 to 120km interspersed with a total of five rest days plus contingencies. Dates will take advantage of Air Canada’s Saturdays-only direct service to Hilo. (Westjet does the same on Fridays.) Low-cost accommodation reserved by the leader is expected to total about $650 for each participant.  Airfares are about $300 each way.

    Tour fee includes:  Rental of a support vehicle and storage space for bike boxes and excess luggage in Hilo. Luggage on tour will be restricted to one ‘carry-on’ bag per person — see your airline for measurements.

    Tour fee does not include:  Each participant will pay nightly accommodation and restaurant meals.  Lunch teams in rotation will purchase supplies for the group.

    Itinerary:  Jan 5, fly to Hilo arriving 8:05 p.m. Hotel two nights. Jan 7, Captain Cook, two nights. Jan 9 Naaleu, one night. Jan 10 Volcano, two nights. Jan 12 Hilo, two nights. Jan 14 Honoka’a, two nights. Jan 16 Kamuela, one night. Jan 17 Hawi, one night. Jan 18 Kona, one night. Jan 19 fly home, departing 11:25 p.m.

    Note: If a Friday-to-Friday group is needed, it will have its rest day in Kona at the end of the tour instead of at Day2.
