Ride Description:

Enjoy 4 days of cycling and one day of hiking on Mindoo Mnis or Spirit Island as Manitoulin Island was once called by the first nations people.   Manitoulin is the heart and spirit of the Great Lakes of Canada and it is the largest island on a freshwater lake in the world!  It is also the northern extension of the Niagara Escarpment. Accommodation Reservations:

The preferred accommodation is “My Friends Inn”.  Contact Michelle Dey, phone 1-705-859-3115 or email myfriendsinn@hotmail.com.  The group rate is $105/night.  The alternate motel is the “Wayside Motel”, phone 1-705-859-3515 or email welcome.wayside@gmail.com.  The group rate is $109/night.  When contacting the motel, please indicate that you are with the Manitoulin Hub & Spoke to receive the reduced group rate. Both motels are in Manitowaning, ON.

Riding Conditions:

Routes will all be on quiet roads with minimal vehicular traffic.  There will be a choice of routes each day, and all are on rolling terrain.

Fee Includes:

The $20 fee will cover organizational costs, provisions of route maps and cue sheets.

Fee Does Not Include:

Meals, accommodation and individual expenses are not included.

Transportation: Participants are expected to provide their own transportation. Those travelling greater distances can fly into Toronto Pearson or Sudbury airports where car rentals are available. Toronto to Tobermory is 275k plus 2hr ferry, The distance from the ferry to Manitowaning is 30k on Monitoulin Island. Sudbury airport to Manitowaning is 190k.

Registration and Participant Selection:

This will follow the new cccts system.  Registration will take place on the cccts website.  A computer generated lottery system will be used to assist in the selection of riders in the event that a ride is oversubscribed.  The lottery sign-up will run for 3 days, after which a wait list is automatically generated and the leader will review the results.

If the ride is not filled to capacity, registration will still be allowed until the registration close date above.  Deposits and payments are non-refundable unless replacement person(s) are found.
