Welcome to the Nanaimo Chapter!
Nanaimo: A City Built for Cycling
Nanaimo isn’t just bike friendly—it’s designed for cyclists. Our community is connected by an impressive network of paved, off road trails such as the Parkway Trail and the E&N Trail, offering safe, seamless routes from North Nanaimo to downtown and the lively waterfront. These corridors make everyday riding—commuting, errands, or leisure—comfortable and accessible for all ages.
The newly formed Nanaimo Cycling Coalition adds even more momentum, advocating for cyclist safety and championing active transportation across the region. The City of Nanaimo continues to invest in cycling infrastructure, making it easier than ever to choose your bike as your primary mode of travel.
Cyclists also enjoy excellent local support, from skilled repair shops to convenient rental options. The EVO e bike program now offers rentals and drop off stations at 16 locations across the city, making spontaneous rides simple and fun. Nanaimo also proudly participates in the GoByBike program, encouraging riders of all levels to get out and explore.
Each year, we cheer on the inspiring Tour de Rock riders as they power through our city on their island long journey in support of Cops for Cancer—a reminder of the strength and spirit of our cycling community.
A Region Full of Variety
Our area offers endless cycling possibilities. Explore nearby islands, discover charming communities like Ladysmith, Cedar, Nanoose, Lantzville, Parksville, and Qualicum, or enjoy our mix of flatlands, rolling hills, quiet country roads, and breathtaking ocean views. Whether you prefer paved off road routes, scenic road rides, or adventurous mountain bike trails, there is truly something for everyone.
CCCTS Nanaimo: Cycling Together
The objective of the Cross Canada Cycle Tour Society (CCCTS) and the Nanaimo Chapter is to offer a wide variety of recreational cycling experiences to all members on a non profit, volunteer driven basis. Together, we will establish weekly local rides and participate in the Tours and Hub & Spokes available to all CCCTS members nationwide.
Every ride will emphasize safe group cycling, while also helping riders build confidence in independent skills such as self navigation and basic bike maintenance.
When you join CCCTS, simply select Nanaimo Chapter as your home base—and become part of a vibrant, welcoming cycling community.
