Comments: Comments: Riders should be aware that this ride has several time constraints due to ferry schedules. The 8 a.m. ferry would arrive in Swartz Bay at 9:35 (9:45 ish before we start riding, which would mean  riders need to maintain a brisk  pace to catch the 11 a.m. Ferry from Brentwood Bay – Mill Bay  (20 km) .

To return for the 4:10 sailing, riders would have to complete approx. 50 km of cycling in 4 hours (allowing 1 hour for lunch and exploring the trestles)   Portions of the route will encounter busy roads with logging truck traffic, as well as several hills, which some riders may find challenging.  If timing becomes an issue, slower riders may choose to stop at Shawnigan Lake for lunch instead.  This shorter option reduces the ride distance by approximately 16 km and allows riders to catch  the 4:10  ferry to return to Brentwood Bay. (arriving at 4:35)    Riders would then need to maintain a brisk  pace back to catch the 6pm ferry from Swartz bay. (20 km at a minimum speed of 23kph)

Priority for riding to the trestles will mean NO coffee break before lunch.  However, a short stop in Shawnigan Lake Village on the way back to the Mill Bay ferry where a bakery/coffee shop is located will be available if time permits.
