This Wednesday, members will have a choice of two rides from the Brentwood Bay Ferry Terminal, 8:40 am departure.

 

The 40 km route will stop for coffee at Shawnigan Lake, then circle clockwise around Shawnigan Lake (restroom stop at West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park), followed by a quick lunch stop at Mason Beach Park (junction of Shawnigan Lake and Renfrew roads, rest stop facilities), and return via bucolic Cameron-Taggert Road back to the Mill Bay Ferry, for the 1:50 pm sailing. Mikkel and Cornelia  will lead that route.  Riders should be able to ride 20 kph on the flat.

 

The 60 km route will follow Telegraph Road down into picturesque Cowichan Bay for coffee, then Tzouhalem Road into Duncan (rest stop at the train station), and back via Koksilah Road (lunch at Bright Angel Provincial Park, very nice washroom), the highway with good shoulders, Cobble Hill and Cameron-Taggert roads back to the Mill Bay Ferry, also for the 1:50 sailing. Ride leaders for this ride will be Bob and Brenda. There are rolling hills and riders should be able to maintain 23 kph on the flat.

 

Leaders will try to keep their group together in order to make the 1:50 pm ferry, but riders unable to keep pace should be prepared to make the later 3:00 pm departure on their own.

 

We would appreciate an email on your choice of ride, otherwise just simply show up at the ferry terminal at 8:30 am, ten minutes before departure. Seniors ride free weekdays; regular fare is $6.00. Street parking is about 2 blocks from the terminal. Bring a lunch, and remember to bring your mask.
