Diane Swindel and Chris Hodgson will lead a ride across North and South Pender Islands.
We will meet at the Mary Winspear Centre (2243 Beacon Avenue,
Sidney) about 7:30 am and cycle 5 km to the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal .  BC Ferry Experience Cards can be used on this trip.
Please note that this is a hilly ride with up to 14% grade.
Ferry leaves Swartz at 8:20 arriving Pender 9 am approx
We will ride to Driftwood Center (about 4 km from ferry) for coffee break- there is also a bakery and grocery store here. Participants should bring water, bag lunch and snacks for themselves – we will not be going out for lunch – lots of lunch items at grocery store
We will cycle to south end of South Pender Island to Brooks Point for lunch – we have to park bikes at entrance and lock them –  everyone should bring a cable lock – walk in on a boardwalk to headlands/beach  about a 5 minute stroll- outhouse on the trail
The pm ferry departs Otter Bay at 3:15 for Swartz Bay
The terrain is hilly- several hills are 14% grade- total distance return is approx 35 km
Ride rated as intermediate/advanced due to terrain- roads are narrow- no shoulders- drivers are courteous but riders should be comfortable riding in traffic.
