Ride Description:

This 13-day,12-night tour starts just south of Bellingham, Washington, at Larrabee State Park where you will check in and meet your fellow riders. The tour begins on day 2 – over the next 12 days we ride through the beautiful Islands of Fidalgo and Whidbey, catch the ferry to Port Townsend, ride west across the top of the Olympic Peninsula then south to Forks, further south and east to Elma, then north, completing the O.P loop bringing us back through Whidbey Island and to our starting point to end the trip.

This is a camping tour with 2 hotel nights and a support vehicle. All tasks, including the driving, will be done by the participants. The rides will vary from 51 - 109 kms per day. The average distance and ascent for 10 days of riding is 83 kms/ 696m. Total distance is 830 kms. There are 2 scheduled days off. Detailed daily route maps and cue sheets, elevation profiles and road condition information will be provided at the commencement of the tour.

The CCCTS camp kitchen and related equipment will be hauled in the rented van and set up and taken down each day by the riders.  Riders will provide their own tent, mattress, sleeping bag, eating utensils and lawn chair. Cook teams will be appointed to take turns to drive the truck, shop for provisions, cook breakfast and dinner, and set out sandwich making ingredients. Motels rooms are included on day 7 and 12.

Riding Conditions:

The route follows secondary highways or local paved roads and some bike paths. Most roads will include a paved shoulder or be of such low traffic volume to not require a shoulder. The terrain is easy rolling hills with an occasional short sharp grade. Total accumulated elevation gain is +6956m.

On two days we have a short incline with a grade over 10%. Day 5, a 300m stretch with a grade up to 14.8%. Day 10 has 2 very short sections with a grade of just over 10%.

The exception will be on hotel nights where you will be responsible for your own dinner and breakfast. One hotel offers continental breakfast. Registration and Participant Selection:

The registration process will follow the recently amended CCCTS system.

Registration will take place on the CCCTS website (not Karelo) at the date and time noted above, with a $50 deposit.  A computer-generated lottery system will be used to assist in the selection of riders in the event that the ride is oversubscribed, (not the first come -first served system used in recent years).  The lottery signup will run for 3 days, after which time a waitlist is automatically generated and the leader will review the results.

The fitness and riding experience of registrants will be considered in terms of suitability for the tour, and the leader may elect to contact registrants or others who know them to verify their suitability. The leader will contact those who have been selected and direct them to make the first payment of $US  450 on the website by February 8.    The leader will also contact those who have been waitlisted.

If the ride is not filled to capacity, registration will still be allowed up until the registration close date shown above.  Deposits are non-refundable unless the registrant is not selected for the tour and wishes to be removed from waitlist. Payments are non-refundable unless replacement person(s) are found.

The second payment of $US 450 will be due on June 1.
