Ride Description:

In 2018, the National Capital Region Chapter of the CCCTS is planning a six-day H&S in the Mauricie Region of Quebec province. The hub will be Trois Rivières, the city at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and St. Maurice rivers. This site, a traditional summer camp for Algonquin and Abenaki Indians, became the second permanent settlement of New France, in 1634. Part of the old city has survived a devastating fire in 1908. It is the home of the oldest prison in the country (1815), now a museum; the Forges du Saint Maurice, a national historic site; the Ursuline Monastery and the Notre Dame du Cap Basilica.

This H&S is rated as intermediate as the choice of rides is mixed. Rides will be offered north, east and west from Trois Rivières, as well as a remote start from the South shore of the Saint Lawrence River.

Your organising committee of Nel Ahmed, Geoff Kennedy and Ed Weber invite you to come and explore this region of Quebec.

Accommodation Reservations:

Accommodation will be at the Comfort Inn, 6255 Rue Corbeil, Trois Rivières. To make a reservation  call  1-844-295-3566.

The cost per room is $95.00 per night, single or double occupancy, plus applicable taxes. A hot breakfast is included.

This is a special group rate, so when you call directly to book your room, mention the group reservation no: CCTS# 3174839.

The rooms have been blocked until April 1st; the cancellation policy is 48 hours. Participants are requested to find their own room-mates, although trip leaders may be able to assist.

Transportation:
Participants will be expected to provide their own transportation to Trois Rivières, although we will endeavour to arrange car pooling for those travelling from Ottawa on the 27th.The distance from Ottawa is about 320 km. There is an airport in Trois Rivières.

Riding Conditions:

Routes will be, where possible, on segregated bike paths or low-density paved roadways, and should be suitable for standard road bikes. The topography in the area along the Saint Lawrence River is fairly flat, with more possibility of hills as one moves inland to the north. A range of rides of varying levels of difficulty will be available for each day.

Fee Includes:

The $20 fee will cover the organisational costs as well as provision of route maps and cue sheets.

Fee Does Not Include:

The fee does not cover meals, Happy Hour supplies or individual expenses of participants.

Registration and Participant Selection:

The registration process will follow the recently amended CCCTS  system.

Registration will take place on the CCCTS website ( not Karelo) at the date and time noted above.  A computer generated lottery system will be used to assist in the selection of riders in the event that the ride is oversubscribed, (not the time based previous system).  The lottery sign up will run for 3 days, after which time a wait-list is automatically generated and the leader will review the results.

If the ride is not filled to capacity, registration will still be allowed up until the registration close date shown above.  Deposits and payments are non-refundable unless replacement person(s) are found.
